Domestic Violence Restraining Orders
Domestic Violence and abuse are used to gain control over their victim. It most often occurs in an intimate relationship or marriage in order to maintain control over their victim by causing fear, guilt, and shame. The abuser uses tactics to intimidate and wear down their target to keep them under his or her thumb. This can be accompanied by actual physical harm or threats of halm and of death to their victim and possibly one or more members of their loved ones.
Most people think of domestic abuse as physical harm to a person, but the abuse may also cause harm to a business, personal property, or relationships with others. Abuse may also be false reports designed to cause harm such as posts on social media and/or lies to others to encourage others to spread more lies and hate. They may even call an employer and spread horrible stories about their target.False Reports Can Lead to You Losing Your Home
I have experienced persons going as far has faking an injury or deliberately hurting themselves and then reporting it to the police. The perpetrator may attempt to turn the truth around and report he/she is the victim for the purpose of getting the unwanted person thrown out of their own home. This tactic is often used where a divorce or separation is pending or even during the process of the divorce... or the motive may be to get favorable child custody orders or to terminate rights to visitation.
Domestic violence and abuse does not discriminate between persons... abusive relationships occur between heterosexual and homosexual couples and happens to people of all races, ethnic backgrounds, and economic levels. While it is more often women who are victimized, men are also abused... especially verbally and emotionally. You deserve to feel valued, respected, and safe.
